Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce organizers are pulling out all the stops to celebrate this year’s 24th Annual Wine Festival Saturday and Sunday, September 29 and 30.
The lake’s wine festival provides a grand platform for Smith Mountain Lake residents and visitors from near and far-away who enjoy great music, wine tasting and crafts. Every corner of Virginia will be represented with 27 wineries pouring a variety of their finest products. Also an assembly of some of the best regional crafts, a superb variety of foods and live music provided by top bands will be featured.
The 24th Annual Smith Mountain Lake Wine Festival will be held at LakeWatch Plantation directly on Route 122 in Moneta. The site is about 2 miles south of the Hales Ford Bridge and across from Bojangle’s Restaurant. The actual address of the festival site is 14374 Booker T. Washington Highway for drivers who utilize their GPS systems.
Additionally, SML Chamber organizers are providing a special wine storage and pick-up station for the convenience of attendees making wine purchases. Festival-goers can sample and choose their own special wine selections, purchase bottles or cases at any of the wineries throughout the day and their order will be waiting for them as they leave. Large orders can be easily transferred from the wine pickup tent to their vehicles.

For people with designated driver tickets (non-taster), there will be a special tent sponsored by Carilion Clinic serving free refreshments.
More Crafters, More Convenience, More Fun
There will be 85 specially-selected food and craft vendors – more than ever before – along with 27 Virginia-based wineries. All are preparing to be a part of the very big weekend.
FOUR Great Bands Slated — Bring a Lawn Chair or Blanket to Enjoy the Music
Four popular bands will also be performing with continuous music to entertain festival-goers. All anyone needs to do is bring a lawn chair or blanket to relax and enjoy the music, food and festivities.
Saturday crowds will enjoy the rock, pop and acoustic sounds of Polychrome, as well as the energetic blend of rock, country and dance hits from today and yesterday of Dragonfly.
Sunday’s festivities feature Blue Mule – a blend of Folk, Bluegrass and Americana, and Fat Daddy – Blues at its finest.
