MONETA, VA — Organizers of the Smith Mountain Lake Wine Festival are already hard at work planning for this year’s event on Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27. Marking its 21st year, planners are confident this year’s festivities will be the best ever and are preparing appropriately. More than 7,000 attended the 2008 event.
All of the crowd’s favorite aspects of the SML Wine Festival are already included in the equation – 27 vintners who all hale from the State of Virginia as well as 85 top crafters and food vendors offering goodies to please every palate.
The three bands performing are Domino on Saturday and Fuzzy Logic and Clue on Sunday – adding that special “beach†flair for festival goers who love to dance or simply enjoy the beat from their folding chairs.
The Wine Festival will be held on pastoral fields overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains in Franklin County at LakeWatch Plantation about 2 miles south of the Hales Ford Bridge directly off of Route 122, making access to the site extremely convenient for all participating.
Special advance taster tickets are being sold at the SML Visitor Center in Bridgewater Plaza and on the chamber website (www.visitsmithmountainlake.com) for $15 and designated driver tickets for $10, good either day. “For a limited time, this special roll-back price will help make the event affordable for everyone,” said SML Chamber Executive Director Vicki Gardner.
This special discount pricing will only be in effect until July 10, 2009, when normal advance discount ticket pricing begins. Those prices will be $18 for taster tickets and $12 for designated driver.
Tickets at the gate will be $22 for taster and $15 for designated driver admission.
