MONETA – Food Lion’s expansion for people who live and visit Smith Mountain Lake will create dozens of jobs in Bedford County.
The company plans to cut the ribbon on its new grocery store in Moneta on Wednesday morning. The store’s opening will mean 40 new jobs.
Food Lion plans to give a free reusable bag filled with private label products to the first 200 customers.
The store will also donate $500 to Moneta Elementary School, $1,000 to S.M.L. Good Neighbors, Inc., and $2,000 to Bedford Christian Ministries, Inc.
“We are very appreciative of the support the community has shown us as we transition within the market,” said Rob Ward, district manager for the region, in a news release. “We look forward to continuing to serve our customers and the Moneta community.”
“We are dedicated to being Moneta’s neighborhood grocery store,” said John Novitsky, store manager, in the release.
